Flirting with Confidence

Are you confident in expressing your interest in someone, whether the person is already your long-term partner or someone with whom you hope to go on a first or second date?

We can learn to flirt by discovering what feels authentic to each of us. Consider what you want to convey by wooing someone. You may want the person to know you are attracted to them or even that you want to share a romantic or sexual experience. You can show your desire through eye contact, facial expression, and body language. You can use humor or be intensely serious. What style is most true to your personality and mood in the moment?

If you want the person to feel special, you may choose to offer a compliment that is specifically about a trait you like about them. You may want to express to them the emotions you feel when you think of them. You might even tell them what you feel in your body when you are near them.

If you know what turns the other person on, you might speak their language, such as by wearing something they enjoy seeing you in or by touching them in a way you know they like for you to touch them.

You may need a dose of courage to be flirtatious if you feel it is risky for this person to know you are attracted to them. You may also need to soften the voice of your internal critic if you are judging your flirtatious expression. Discover how you want to express your attraction and desires.
